An auxiliary jack on the back of the speaker allows you to use devices that don’t support Bluetooth, though you’ll need to provide your own cable.

If you’d like the Flip 2 to broadcast again, simple tap the Bluetooth icon on the speaker. Sound too difficult? Providing you have an NFC-capable device, you can just use NFC tap-to-pair. When you turn the speaker on for the first time, it automatically begins broadcasting its presence, so all you have to do is select it and pair from the device of your choice. Connectivityīluetooth connectivity is a breeze with the JBL Flip 2. The footprint is fairly small when placed either way, though the vertical placement is obviously the smaller of the two. The way its designed causes the speakers to tilt upward slightly, no matter which orientation you prefer. One of the most interesting things about how the Flip 2 is built is how it can be oriented either horizontally or vertically. Whether or not you want to, on the other hand, is up to you. Basically, you can carry this around in your pocket, as long as your pants aren’t too tight. The cylindrical shape and resulting lack of edges helps this immensely, in addition to its weight of less than one pound.
Unlike a lot of compact Bluetooth speakers, the JBL Flip 2 isn’t just small, it’s actually easy to carry around. For those of you who like your colors coordinated, don’t worry, the carrying case is the same color as the speaker. That isn’t quite as many colors as the original Flip, but it’s still a nice range. White, blue, yellow and red are listed on the JBL website. While the model we’re looking at in this review is black, the JBL Flip is available in a wide variety of colors.
